Vandewiele, a market leader in textile machinery, announces that it is partnering with Exotec, the global specialist in warehouse robots. Vandewiele thus aims to further automate its warehouse in Marke with the Skypod System to optimise workflow and storage space.
For decades, Vandewiele has relied on a miniload system to store small parts. Due to the increasing diversity of products and growing production requirements, the current system no longer met the required performance. So it was time for an upgrade, and the Skypod System proved to be a suitable solution for Vandewiele. Exotec’s system offers an efficient solution by making better use of the available space and stacking bins in racks up to twelve metres high.
The Skypod System enables the Skypods – the warehouse robots – to move around the warehouse and climb between the warehouse racks. The system is fully scalable, allowing for further expansion of the warehouse space in the future. Additional robots, picking stations and bins can also be easily added.
The implementation of the Skypod System was precisely tailored to the needs of Vandewiele’s warehouse. It includes two manual pick stations, a bin interface and as many as sixteen Skypods. The Skypods enable Vandewiele to pick the parts needed for their internal production and kitting significantly faster and more efficiently than before.

Vandewiele automatiseert met magazijnrobots van Exotec
Vandewiele, marktleider in textielmachines, kondigt aan dat ze de samenwerking aangaat met Exotec, de wereldwijde specialist in magazijnrobots. Vandewiele wil zo haar magazijn in Marke verder automatiseren met het Skypod Systeem, om de workflow en opslagruimte te optimaliseren.
Al tientallen jaren vertrouwde Vandewiele op een miniload systeem voor de opslag van kleine onderdelen. Door de toenemende diversiteit aan producten en groeiende productie-eisen voldeed het huidige systeem niet meer aan de vereiste prestaties. Het werd dus tijd voor een upgrade, en het Skypod Systeem bleek een geschikte oplossing voor Vandewiele. Exotec’s systeem biedt een efficiënte oplossing door de beschikbare ruimte beter te benutten en bakken te stapelen in rekken tot twaalf meter hoogte.
Het Skypod Systeem stelt de Skypods – de magazijnrobots – in staat om zich in het magazijn te verplaatsen en tussen de magazijnrekken te klimmen. Het systeem is volledig schaalbaar, waardoor de opslagruimte in de toekomst verder uitgebreid kan worden. Ook kunnen er eenvoudig extra robots, pickstations en bakken worden toegevoegd.
De implementatie van het Skypod Systeem is nauwkeurig afgestemd op de behoeften van Vandewiele’s magazijn. Het omvat twee manuele pickstations, een bin interface en maar liefst zestien Skypods. De Skypods stellen Vandewiele in staat om de nodige onderdelen voor hun interne productie en kitting aanzienlijk sneller en efficiënter te picken dan voordien.
