Exotec® has announced the appointment of Louis Esquerre-Pourtere as the Director of Research and Development (R&D). In his new role, Louis will be responsible for orchestrating the strong growth of his team while ensuring the continuity of innovation and performance of Exotec products.
Based in France, Louis graduated from the 2010 class of the Ecole Centrale de Lille, a French university specialising in engineering for over 160 years. He began his career in the railway industry and spent 10 years at Bombardier, where he contributed to the design of the latest Parisian Transiliens and double-decker TER trains. Louis then joined Exotec in 2020 to take on new challenges.
Within Exotec, Louis initially held the position of Systems Team Manager. As the first manager of the company’s R&D teams, he played a crucial role in bringing together teams capable of designing standardised, robust products that are increasingly tailored to the logistical needs of the company’s clients.
In his new role as the director of the R&D team, his mission will now be to ensure that Exotec’s new products meet customer needs, comply with market quality standards, and are delivered within specified deadlines. To achieve this, he will be supported by a team of 170 engineers specialising in mechanical, electrical, electronic software design, and project managers across several sites in France.
Following his appointment, Louis Esquerre-Pourtere said: “It is with pride and gratitude that I take on my new responsibilities. I appreciate the opportunity to work with such a talented team. I am confident that together we will continue to develop the level of excellence that characterises our innovations.”
Exotec, which has already produced more than 7000 of its iconic Skypod® robots, has continued to grow, particularly in international markets. The appointment of Louis Esquerre-Pourtere aligns with the company’s vision to structure its growth and expand its market share.
“The appointment of Louis Esquerre-Pourtere comes at a crucial moment for Exotec,“ explains Renaud Heitz, CTO, and co-founder of Exotec, who previously held the position. “We plan to recruit more than 80 R&D professionals in 2024 at our sites in Lille and Lyon. Louis will have the main tasks of coordinating this strong growth across multiple sites while maintaining and improving execution standards and continuing to innovate. We are confident that he has all the qualities to succeed in these exciting challenges!“.
