POSCO DX will serve as a full integrator of Exotec solutions in the Korean domestic market as well as the broader region
Exotec®, a global warehouse robotics provider, and POSCO DX Co. Ltd., a Korea-based engineering and IT service provider, announced their new partnership that aims to introduce Exotec solutions to the South Korean market.
The partnership agreement was signed at the POSCO DX office in Pangyo, with key attendees including Duk-kyoon Jung, President of POSCO DX, Jae-ho Suk, Head of the Logistics Automation Business, Romain Moulin, CEO of Exotec, and Ryu Tatewaki, Managing Director of Exotec Nihon Co., Ltd.
The partnership will focus both on the domestic logistics automation market in Korea as well as a broader and international logistics automation market in the region. Specifically, POSCO DX will integrate Exotec’s signature Skypod® system in the upcoming warehouse automation projects in the region. South Korea is the second Asian country, following Japan, to embrace Exotec solutions and represents a strategic market for the company.
Founded in France in 2015, Exotec has been rapidly expanding across the globe with operations in 15 countries supporting more than 30 industry-leading brands spanning e-commerce, grocery, retail, manufacturing, and 3PL sectors.
Exotec’s signature Skypod system utilizes robots that move goods between high-density storage racks and ergonomic picking stations. The system increases warehouse throughput up to fivefold with two-minute or less response times for all SKUs. The Skypod system is fully modular allowing customers to deploy in a matter of weeks and easily expand without interrupting production by simply adding robots, stations, or racks.
Jae-ho Suk, head of the Logistics Automation Business Office at POSCO DX, said, “Through this partnership, POSCO DX officially becomes the first domestic supplier of the Skypod system in the South Korean market. We are thrilled to venture into the warehouse automation market, and we believe that the flexibility of the Skypod system will prove to be a competitive advantage, especially considering recent domestic fire standards.”
Gilles Baulard, Executive Vice President of Exotec Nihon Co., Ltd., said: “We are excited about expanding our footprint in the South Korean logistics automation market and leveraging POSCO DX’s extensive track record of success, including their work on the largest mega-hub logistics automation system project in Korea.”
In addition to delivering a Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Incheon International Airport, with a total conveyor length of 184km, POSCO DX is currently working on the construction of integrated logistics centers and fulfillment centers, including the smart mega-hub terminal for Hanjin, one of the largest in Korea.
