– CEVA adds 57 robots at two sites in Venray, the Netherlands

MARSEILLE, France, 11 July 2023 – CEVA Logistics is extending the automation of its two warehouses in Venray, the Netherlands, with the Skypod® system from French warehouse robotics specialist Exotec. The flexible goods-to-person picking solution will improve the efficiency of the facilities: during the peak seasons, CEVA expects to handle three times more volumes than before.
Both sites join the Exotec Skypod installation already in place at CEVA’s Roosendaal site. 57 Skypod robots are being deployed at the Venray sites to enhance warehouse automation for CEVA’s customers, increasing warehouse capacity and flexibility to cope with peak seasons.
With the Skypod order picking system, the robots that move on the floor are also able to climb up to 12 metres through the racks. This fully scalable solution makes it easy to add robots, picking stations or bins, enabling CEVA to respond quickly to changing market conditions and customer growth by increasing or reducing warehouse storage volume.
In addition to the benefits in terms of efficiency and capacity, sustainability is an important element of CEVA’s business strategy. The low energy consumption of the Skypod system contributes to the company’s sustainability objectives. CEVA’s Venray warehouses run entirely on solar energy, making the solution energy-neutral. The Venray and Roosendaal sites contribute to CEVA’s positive energy activities in the Benelux region, as the company produces more energy there than it consumes.
