Since the early 2000s, advancements in warehouse storage automation have been limited. However, a major milestone has now been reached with the introduction of a next-generation racking system, specifically designed for the Skypod system.


Racking: The Backbone of Modern Logistics

For over sixty years, vertical storage has been a fundamental element of warehouse operations. Its role is crucial: to optimise space efficiency while maximising storage capacity.

Whether used for traditional pallet storage or automated stock control, all warehouse racking systems must comply with stringent regulations, including NF EN 15 512 for structural integrity, NF EN 15 629 for environmental and load-bearing requirements, and EN 1998-1 for seismic resistance.

A Completely New Design

Exotec’s high-density storage racks fully comply with these regulatory standards—but our innovative approach goes even further. This latest generation of racking has been developed around three key objectives: reducing costs, increasing storage density, and simplifying installation. Each component has been meticulously redesigned to enhance functionality while ensuring seamless integration with the system as a whole, all without compromising technical performance.


An Ultra-Optimised Structure

Our warehouse R&D team has refined every aspect of this new-generation racking: reduced assembly time, fewer components, and an improved structural design. The result: a faster, more cost-effective installation process with no compromise on strength or durability.

When deploying a Skypod system at a customer’s site, any technical challenge can impact project timelines. By streamlining our automated storage systems, we can now achieve significantly faster deployment.


For Even Higher, Denser Storage

This new structure, reaching heights of up to 14 metres, significantly increases warehouse storage density.

The new generation of Exotec high-density storage racks optimises space utilisation. By minimising the number of access aisles required by robots—compared to previous versions—the system allows for greater use of available floor space, leading to a substantial increase in storage capacity.


An Integrated Solution for the Skypod System

This next-generation shelving has been specifically engineered for the Skypod robots.

A major innovation now enables robots to move beneath the racking, providing more direct access to storage bins. This advancement enhances the fluidity of robotic movement and significantly speeds up order preparation.
