Tannico: Automation at the service of wine e-commerce
Italy, its art of living… and its robots
PC Componentes, one of Spain’s leading computer technology and components companies, has taken a major step towards logistical innovation thanks to the Skypod® robotic warehouse automation system developed by Exotec® and designed, implemented and maintained by Exotec by Dexter. By equipping its new 40,000 m² logistics warehouse, PC Componentes was aiming for greater operational efficiency and the scalability of its intralogistics equipment. This objective has been achieved thanks to a Skypod system comprising 41 mobile robots, enabling the company to increase its productivity and anticipate future growth.
Founded in 2005, PC Componentes is a Spanish company specialising in the supply of electronic and IT equipment to private customers throughout Europe. The company, which operates exclusively as an e-commerce business, offers its customers more than 80,000 references on its website and has more than 600 employees.
To meet the growing demand for IT equipment, the company decided to invest in the robotisation of its new warehouse, calling on Exotec through its exclusive distributor in Spain, Exotec by Dexter. This makes the new facility one of Europe’s most innovative e-commerce platforms, as well as a technological benchmark for logistics, warehousing and packaging.
Since 2005, PC Componentes has undergone a significant expansion of its logistics facilities, culminating in a 40,000 m² warehouse due to open in 2023. This growth was driven by the need to respond to market demands and the company’s evolving storage requirements.
The company’s new logistics warehouse, located in Alhama de Murcia (south-east Spain), is a response to the growing demand from PC Componentes customers to be able to buy IT equipment via the Internet.
In this context, the main challenge facing the company is also to ensure its scalability:
To optimise its single-order picking system, PC Componentes chose to work with our integrator for Spain and Portugal, Exotec by Dexter. Its aim is to use our Skypod intralogistics warehouse automation solution, a technology based on robotic fleets for order preparation.
Work to install the Skypod warehouse automated system began in the last quarter of 2022, with production due to start gradually in early 2023.
