Warehouse High Density Storage Solutions
Storage Racks
Our racks are designed to maximise the total storage space in your warehouse, offering optimal storage solutions. The modular design allows for configuration to suit a wide variety of warehouse sizes. When utilised at the maximum height of 12 metres, the racks provide up to five times more storage density than non-automated solutions.
Storage Bins
The modular design of the racks also facilitates quick deployment, making them ideal for rapid expansions of an existing Skypod® system. Additional racks can be added with minimal disruption to operations. Moreover, our racks comply with FM Global automatic sprinkler regulations.
Our storage bins, made from recycled plastic, accommodate a variety of SKUs. These bins are available at different heights and can be partitioned into multiple compartments to increase storage density. Depending on your needs, bins are available in three heights: + 220 mm + 320 mm + 420 mm
The bins can be partitioned into 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 compartments with removable plastic dividers. This warehouse slotting technique allows items that are commonly ordered together to be placed in the same bin, further increasing overall efficiency. We’ve recently changed our bin color from teal to grey! Find out why.
Trays
To maximise existing infrastructure with high density storage, we have developed trays that support many common carton sizes and fulfilment containers. These trays eliminate the need for decanting into Exotec® bins where applicable and are suitable for cartons up to 600 x 400 x 400 mm.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the maximum height of the racks?
Our racks can reach up to 39 feet (12 meters) with a required clearance of only 0.5 meters between the top of our racks and the ceiling. This design allows for the utilization of the entire vertical space in the vast majority of warehouses throughout North America. The adaptability of our rack heights ensures that they can be tailored to fit a wide range of warehouse configurations, thereby maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of your warehouse storage solutions.
How much can each storage bin hold, in regard to weight and size?
The Skypod system storage bins are designed to accommodate a wide range of products, making them suitable for diverse industries such as retail, healthcare, industrials, and grocery. Our bins are available in three heights and offer flexible partitioning options to cater to different product sizes. If the item fits into our bins or case fits onto our trays, our system is fully equipped to handle it.
- Bins: Our bins are 450 x 650 mm (17.5 x 25.5 in). They are available in three different heights – 220, 320, and 420 mm (8.6 x 12.6 x 16.5 in). For increased storage density, these bins can be partitioned into 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 compartments using removable dividers.
- Trays: Our trays facilitate the quick and automated entry and removal of cartons from storage, eliminating the necessity for decanting. These trays are suitable for carton sizes up to 600 x 400 x 400 mm (23.5 x 15.5 x 15.5 in).
Additionally, our trays facilitate the quick and automated entry and removal of cartons from storage, eliminating the necessity for decanting. These trays are suitable for carton sizes up to 600 x 400 x 400 mm (23.5 x 15.5 x 15.5 in). Full and mixed case picking is enabled from our trays.
Is it possible to have bins and trays within the same system?
Yes, this unique capability within the Skypod system accommodates a wide array of order profiles, enables omnichannel order fulfillment, and maximizes the efficiency of order fulfillment processes thanks to high density storage.
Do I need to remove any existing pillars in my warehouse to install Exotec high density storage system?
No. The installation of Exotec racks is designed to be minimally invasive to your existing warehouse structure. There is no need to remove existing pillars, as the system can be configured around them.
How are bins and trays inducted into the system?
New bins/trays are seamlessly added to the system through a dedicated mode at the station.
How does Exotec streamline the process of adding racks to an existing system?
Expanding the storage capacity of an existing Exotec system is a streamlined and efficient process. The procedure involves:
- Assessment: Initially, we conduct a thorough assessment of your warehouse’s current setup and operational needs to determine the most effective approach for expansion.
- Decoupled Expansion: A key aspect of our system is the decoupling of throughput from storage. This means you can expand storage capacity without necessarily having to increase throughput capabilities, allowing for more cost-effective and need-based capital expenditures.
- Quick Implementation: Adding storage racks to your existing system can be completed in just a few weeks. Our focus is on ensuring that the additional storage integrates seamlessly with your current setup, enhancing your warehouse storage solutions’ overall functionality and efficiency.
This approach ensures rapid expansion of storage capacity and aligns the expansion with your specific operational requirements and budget considerations.
